Charlie’s 1 year update

Charlie turned 1 back on April 30th, but I realized I haven’t done his stats updates since we saw the doctor a week late!

Here we go . . .

Weight: 17 lbs, 13 ozs (5th percentile)

Height: 27.25 inches (<1st percentile, Mr. Shorty Pants)

Head: still jumbo sized. 89th percentile.

He has 11 teeth.

Charlie loves pulling up and standing and pushing his walker.

He loves sneaking into the kitchen and getting into the pantry for snacks.

He cruises all over the place and loves to climb. His most current obsession is going up the stairs 100 times in row.

He’s not really into toys at all. He’d rather open and close the top of his toy box than play with anything inside. He prefers exploring, checking out cupboards, drawers and doors. Oh, and watching the washing machine turn . . . crawling through his tunnel. Chasing the cat. He is always on the move!

He hasn’t learned to like grass yet. He just cries and cries when I sit him down in it.

He’s going through a picky eater phase – I think because he’s always teething. His favorites and about all I can get him to eat are:

  • Graham crackers
  • Yogurt
  • Watermelon
  • Nutrigrain bars

He also appreciates bread and sweet things like cake, pancakes, french toast and croissants. (I mean, who doesn’t? This morning he was seriously begging my mom for a donut.)

He’s enrolled in a nursery school and he starts full time in June. I’M A MESS! I cried at orientation. He’s a pretty high maintenance kid – I’m not sure how much is truly personality (nature) versus nurture right now, so I’m hopeful he’ll acclimate and like hanging around other kids. He’s stubborn. And can cry for very very very long periods of time. Godspeed to his teachers.

The next couple of months are going to be crazy . . . a MOVE is on the horizon! Our family home is selling in less than 2 weeks and I’m in the process of trying to sort out my next home . . . fingers crossed I’ll have some [good] news on that front very, very soon!
