giving thanks

This will be the first Thanksgiving I’ve spent at home (home being my childhood home) in four years. I am going to pack up the cats and go hole up at the family farm for a couple nights. I am really looking forward to it!

It has been one heck of a year for me, obviously. I try not to let myself stop and think about the heart break of it all too much anymore, no good comes from dwelling, no one wants to have to hear about it, and especially with Thanksgiving approaching, I decided to sit and think about everything I am thankful for this year.

I am thankful for . . .

  • The great relationship I have with my parents.
  • Amazing friends – the old ones who have stuck by me this year and cheered me on when I needed it most, and the new ones I meet everyday.
  • My intuition. It never leads me astray when I stop to listen to it.
  • My very own apartment. I actually love living alone, I am not kidding!
  • Tate and Toby, their love and companionship make it possible for me to love living alone :).
  • Being back on track for what *I* want out of life. I spent the past 6.5 years trying to morph my dreams, values and believes to what someone else wanted. Now, I have my life, and freedom of personal choice, back.
  • The past 6 months flying by. When in the midst of a personal crisis, life has a tendency to standstill. However, looking back over everything, time really flew and I am lucky.
  • That I have a job. My life would have been a lot worse if I wasn’t able to keep my job and move to CO.

Those are just a few of the things I am very thankful for this year, although there are many others I am sure. There is always a silver lining to every situation, always something to be thankful for, even if sometimes you have to put some extra thought into it.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday, with many things to be thankful for this year, and every year!

  1. Sounds like a good list! Hope you had a nice time with the family on Thanksgiving!!
