I am trying to motivate myself to go through my things and get organized for my move in 2.5 weeks. I’m not going far at all, not even going to bother boxing anything, but I do need to declutter, throw out a bunch of junk and get a donation pile seriously going and into the trunk of my car.

I was pacing around the apartment trying to figure out where to get started, when I got distracted by my bookshelf and I started going through all of my yearbooks. I have kindergarten, first grade, fourth grade, and sixth through twelfth. I looked though the progression of my youth and alternatively smiled and cringed to myself. (I went through some funky phases.)

When I finally got to my senior yearbook, I came across my senior quote:

My advice to you is not to inquire why or whither, but just enjoy your ice cream while it’s on your plate.

I remember picking that quote and mostly loving it because of how much I love ice cream.

But, reading it now, I think it’s a really amazing piece of advice, ice cream or not.

That’s really it. I have no other way to profoundly wrap this into my life now, other than it doesn’t hurt to remind myself to slow down and calm down now and again (the quickly approaching Valentine’s Day has me feeling a tad grouchy this week).

So, now I’m just off to quietly curl up on my sofa in my snuggie, with the cats, listen to Pandora Radio (the Damien Rice channel is my favorite for nighttime) and wait for the snow to fall . . . here’s hoping to another Tuesday snow day!
